Gadji
Seen here playing in the Golden Lion in Gala on Saturday 26th July 2014...
Most of the band members in Gadji are from the Northumberland area although they regularly play up in the Borders at events & functions, I recently saw the new line up for the first time playing at the BMF Bike fest in Kelso, they have a funky soul feel to them and are a great party band.
The guys in the band have a lot of experience behind them and know how to please a crowd, the lead singer, Rob Turnbull used to also be the lead singer in a band called Geordie, he took over from Brian Johnston when he left to join AC/DC..Rob's powerfull rock voice gives an extra oomph to the band's sound..and I just found out last night that bass player Kevin Barnes used to play in Showaddywaddy, the other members of the band, Billy Hogg on Sax, Dave Isles on Guitar, John Sellers on Drums and Laurie Cook on Trumpet are great musicians too with a wealth of experience....
They play cover songs that everyone knows and loves and with the addition of Laurie Cook in the band their range is extensive covering songs from the Blues Brothers, The Rolling Stones to Reggie, Funk and Ska.
The Golden Lion in Gala is a great venue to go along to see any band playing, there's a great atmosphere in the place, it's modern, it's clean and it's light, the audience respect the band playing and are always keen to get up and dance..oh and the doorman is exceptionally nice (he made me say that..lol)
